Our Chinese Friends

For the past year Iris and I have had the honor and privilege of meeting each Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM with some wonderful people. We hoped to help these people, who come from China and Taiwan, with their English skills, speaking and understanding. We have appreciated the help of Caleb and April Chatland and Thomas and Madeline Christiansen. I hope we have been somewhat successful, but more importantly, as the time has gone by, we have made endearing and lasting friendships with some of the greatest people on earth. We feel strongly that they were led to us and we to them. We have learned to understand one another in spite of our different backgrounds, cultures, and languages, and have learned to love one another too. We truly feel like brothers and sisters, and we are, because we are all sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven. We have had several of our friends go back home after completing their studies and time in the USA. Others have come more recently and have several months yet to stay. Still others are involved in PhD programs at USU, and will be here for from three to five years completing their studies. Tonight was the last time for two of our group, Renee and her son, eleven year old, Jerry, from Guangzhou, China. We will miss them greatly. They have touched our hearts and we hope to maintain contact with them. They are truly wonderful people, among the very elect. After our class I took one last photo of those who remained as a reminder of our friends and our time together. We would like to wish Renee and Jerry a safe trip home to China and all the best in the adventures that await them back in their homeland. One day we shall meet again.
