President Taylor of the Logan Temple asked me to come up to the Temple and take some pictures of the Temple presidency and also of the new presidency who started their service on November 1st. They had received permission to have the pictures taken in their whites outside on Monday while the Temple was closed. These are wonderful people who have touched the lives of so many for good and it was an honor to take their pictures. We love and appreciate their examples of loving service. We are better people because of them.
Our English class for the Chinese people we have been working with was fun again this time. We carved pumpkins for Halloween and practiced conversational skills. Our Senior Couples Supervisor donated some pumpkins from his garden. I doubt they could have been put to a better use. This weeks class was well attended and everyone had such a good time. These people are choice souls and we feel so blessed to know them and work with them as they become better acquainted with American culture and the English language. It is not difficult to see the hand of the Lord moving behind the scenes in this work.On Friday we had the opportunity to attend the Temple with the Jackson family. Ron received his endowment and they were sealed as a family. Little Aaron was adorable. The elders who have worked with this family were given permission to attend both the endowment session and the sealing which was an awesome experience for them, as it was for all of us.
The Elders had asked us to help them find a service project so we looked around the neighborhood for something that needed to be done. We have mostly elderly people and widows in our neighborhood. The elders helped dig up flower beds, and we cut down two trees and loaded their branches onto a trailer to be hauled away. They also held the ladder for me while I climbed up on a couple of roofs and cleaned the rain gutters for winter. They didn't want to get up on the roof because they thought that might be against mission rules. They are strictly obedient, awesome young men.
On Sunday evening the Utah Ogden Mission sponsored a musical fireside "Because of Him" featuring the young missionaries in the mission. These young missionaries are truly wonderful and have such great talent in so many ways. The Logan Tabernacle was filled to overflowing and among the crowd were members of our English Class for the Chinese. We were so happy to see them and they appeared to have had an enjoyable evening of music and learning what Mormons believe through music and testimony.
Zone Conference was also a highlight, but kind of faded into the background in light of all the other activities.
We even got to see of our favorite spooks (grand kids and their families) on Halloween night. All in all, life is great and the week has been very rewarding. Below are a few pictures taken so you all can share in these wonderful days and nights with the best companion in the entire world. Love her soooooo much.
